It’s a humid Monday morning in Accra, and a crowd of eager beauty professionals gathers under a simple canopy, their kits in hand and eyes fixed on the banner ahead: GLOWTOUR — Powered by TWiST Academy.
This isn’t just another beauty event. It’s a moving classroom. A digital empowerment bus. A revolution on wheels.
For the past three weeks, the team at TWiST Beauty has been quietly building something remarkable.
The GLOWTOUR, the brainchild of Nunya Tomey, Founder and CEO of TWiST, in collaboration with Tina Delasi, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, is a city-to-city experience designed to upskill beauty experts where they work and live.

"We’ve been in salons, on roadside chairs, in small studios tucked away in neighbourhoods.
These women—and some men—are incredibly talented," Nunya told me when I caught up with her during one of the tour stops. "But talent alone doesn’t scale.
They need visibility, structure, and tools. That’s where TWiST comes in."
The #GLOWTOUR is offering exactly that: not just hands-on makeup masterclasses, but digital education, how to turn a beauty hustle into a business.
The day kicks off not with foundation and lashes, but with an introduction to small business skills, content creation tips, and a walkthrough of how to show up better online. Attendees are taught how to take before-and-after photos, how to write engaging captions, and how to use the TWiST app to showcase their craft to a larger audience.
"Most of the beautypreneurs we’ve met already know how to slay a face or style a wig. What they lack is a digital storefront. We’re helping them build that using their own phones,” Tina explained as she walked us through the day’s program. “It’s beauty in the palms literally.”
- Each city brings a new energy, but the mission remains the same: to get Ghana’s beauty experts twisted into the digital economy.
- For TWiST, that means helping them set up business accounts on the app, teaching them how to manage bookings, track income, and eventually earn rewards through the platform's soon-to-launch TWiST coins.
But beyond the tech, there's something deeply emotional about watching these women light up when they realize their craft has the potential to go far beyond their current circle. One participant told me, “I didn’t know I could be booked by people outside my area. Now, I’m thinking of packaging my work like a brand.”
It’s this exact awakening that GLOWTOUR is after.
As the final week of the tour approaches, the TWiST team is planning something bigger, with more cameras, more content, and a final rallying call for all beauticians to join the movement.
Starting at the Family Salon, the GLOWTOUR is leaving behind more than just a trail of flawless faces, it’s leaving behind possibility.
And in a country where the beauty industry is booming but still largely informal, that might just be the most powerful makeover of all.
